Microneedling

Microneedling is an effective treatment in which micro holes are made in the skin with a special pen, equipped with 11, 24 or 36 small needles. This process stimulates the natural recovery of the skin and promotes the production of collagen. The treatment starts with a thorough cleansing and possibly deep cleansing of the skin. During needling, an intermediate substance such as a collagen serum is used, adapted to your skin type. Afterwards, the skin is cared for with a day or night cream. If desired, part of the skin can also be waxed, but this area is spared during needling.

Who is this treatment suitable for?

Microneedling is suitable for many skin types and can be used for various skin problems, such as fine lines, large pores and acne scars. The skin must be in a healthy condition. This treatment is not recommended for skin infections, eczema, severe acne, herpes and during pregnancy. Our specialists will carefully assess your skin to determine whether microneedling is suitable.

Microneedling makes the skin firmer, smoother and more even. Fine lines are refined, large pores and acne scars are reduced, and the overall skin structure improves. The first results are visible after a few days, but the maximum effect is achieved after multiple treatments, usually 3 to 6 sessions.

What can I do at home?

After the treatment, your skin may be red and slightly swollen for up to 48 hours. Avoid exfoliating or acidic products for a week and only use caring, healing products. Protect your skin daily with SPF 50 and avoid direct sunlight. Makeup can be applied once the skin has calmed down, usually after 24 to 48 hours. In addition, avoid hot baths, saunas and intense heat to support the healing process.

FAQs

Below you will find the most frequently asked questions about microneedling:

How many treatments do I need for the best results?

For optimal results we recommend a course of 3 to 6 treatments, with an interval of 4 to 6 weeks. The number of treatments depends on your skin condition and the desired results.

What is microneedling and how does it work?

Microneedling is a treatment in which fine needles make small stimuli in the skin to stimulate the natural recovery processes of the skin. This promotes the production of collagen and elastin, resulting in a tighter, smoother skin.

What are the benefits of microneedling?

Microneedling helps to reduce fine lines, wrinkles, acne scars, enlarged pores and pigment spots. It makes the skin smoother, fresher and younger, and provides an improved skin structure.

Can microneedling help with acne scars?

Yes, microneedling is very effective in reducing acne scars. The treatment stimulates the skin to repair itself, which causes scars to fade and the skin texture to improve.

When should microneedling not be performed?

Microneedling should not be performed under the following conditions:

  1. Active acne : For severe, inflamed acne, microneedling can further irritate the skin and worsen inflammation.
  2. Skin infections or wounds : If the skin is damaged or infected, treatment should be postponed to prevent further damage.
  3. Eczema or rosacea : In case of active symptoms of eczema or rosacea, microneedling can irritate the skin.
  4. Certain skin conditions : Such as psoriasis or active herpes simplex (cold sores), where the skin is extra sensitive.
  5. Use of blood thinners : In people taking blood-thinning medications, microneedling may cause increased bleeding and bruising.
  6. Pregnancy or breastfeeding : Although there are no known major risks, microneedling is generally not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding as a precaution.

Our specialists always assess your skin and health prior to treatment to determine whether microneedling is suitable for you.
