Remove connective tissue lump

A connective tissue lump, also called a dermatofibroma, is a benign skin lesion that often occurs on the arms, legs or trunk. These small, hard lumps feel firm and can be skin-colored, red or brown in color. Although they are harmless, they can be cosmetically disturbing or annoying.

How does a connective tissue lump develop?

The exact cause of a fibrous lump is not always known, but they often occur after minor skin damage, such as an insect bite or a wound. The body responds by producing extra fibrous tissue, resulting in a small, firm lump.

How does Cryon remove a fibrous lump?

At Cryon we offer a safe and effective method to remove connective tissue lumps. Depending on the size and location we apply the most suitable technique:

  • Coagulation: The lump is burned away with a fine needle, after which a scab is formed that falls off by itself.
  • Laser treatment: Reduces the visibility of the bump by breaking down the connective tissue.

The treatment is quick, virtually painless and usually leaves no scars.

NB

Our specialists cannot make medical diagnoses. Are you unsure about the nature of your connective tissue lump? Consult your GP or dermatologist first to determine whether it can be safely removed.
